The 31st Central European Conference on Information and Intelligent Systems CECIIS 2020 will be held from October 7th to October 9th, 2020 at FOI in Varaždin. BT and Ericsson join up to deliver cloud native dual-mode 5G Core

Ericsson and British Telecommunication PLC (BT) have signed a deal to deploy Ericsson’s dual-mode 5G Core (Evolved Packet Core and 5G Core), a fully container-based, cloud native Mobile Packet Core for 4G, 5G Non-standalone and 5G Standalone services as a single fully integrated core.

The solution, delivered on BT’s Network Cloud, will form a key component in BT’s move to a single converged IP network. It will incorporate network orchestration and automation, including continuous delivery and integration processes (CI/CD), and be integrated into BT’s existing customer experience management platforms using Ericsson Expert Analytics together with Ericsson’s built-in software probes.

Igor Vukasović – New corporate communications director of Hrvatski Telekom

Igor Vukasović took over the position of the Director of the Corporate Communications Department of Hrvatski Telekom on April 1. He will be responsible for the internal and external communication of the leading telecommunications company in Croatia.
He has taken on a new position from the position of the manager of Corporate Communications at Addiko Bank, where he has been managing corporate communications over the past nine years. During his career, he served as the Corporate Communications Director of the Addiko Group and handled the communications aspect of the Group's privatization and rebranding.

On the 31st of March Nokia has announced the launch of a complete AI as a service offering: Nokia AVA 5G Cognitive Operations. The framework and its underlying AI-based solutions enable CSPs to transform their network, service and business operations through the application of AI, automation and cloud scalability. ABB number one for Swiss patent applications in 2019

ABB has secured the first place among Swiss companies in the European Patent Office’s (EPO) list of patent applicants in 2019. ABB is listed with 689 patent applications for 2019, an increase of 21 percent compared to the previous year. The last time ABB was number one was in 2014.

Orange France selects Ericsson for 5G

 
Ericsson 5G RAN products and solutions from the
Ericsson Radio System portfolio will be deployed in the Orange network in the North-East, South-West and Ile de France/Paris regions of France.
The five-year deal will make Ericsson the major RAN provider to Orange France.

The partnership also includes maintenance and deployment services.

It concludes that 'digital sovereignty' poses acute challenges for law- and policy-makers to deal with the interplay of 'code' and 'law', the cost of sovereignty, and the non-neutrality of technology.

TIM and Ericsson reach new European record for 5G speed

TIM and Ericsson, alongside Qualcomm, have successfully completed Europe’s first connection overcoming the 2 Gbps speed barrier on a 5G live commercial network.
The connection was completed on a 26 Gigahertz (GHz) millimeter-wave (mmWave) frequency that was acquired by TIM as part of the Italian government’s 5G bid.The achievement represents yet another milestone in mmWave, following the first 5G connection in Italy and the first 5G videocall in Europe.

Končar – Generators and Motors Inc. complete a Shipbuilding Contract

KONČAR – Generators and Motors Inc. (GIM) have successfully completed a contract concluded with a Spanish customer and delivered another set of machines, including three synchronous generators and three asynchronous motors, for a new-generation multipurpose vessel, currently under construction at a Polish shipyard.

Ericsson Mobility Report: 5G subscriptions to top 2.6 billion by end of 2025

Ericsson expects the global number of 5G subscriptions to top 2.6 billion within the next six years, driven by sustained momentum and a rapidly developing 5G ecosystem. The forecast is included in the November 2019 edition of the Ericsson Mobility Report, alongside a range of other forecasts with an end-of-2025 timeline and communications service provider insights.

Average monthly data-traffic-per-smartphone is forecast to increase from the current figure of 7.2 GB to 24 GB by the end of 2025, in part driven by new consumer behavior, such as Virtual Reality (VR) streaming. With 7.2 GB per month, one can stream 21 minutes of HD video (1280 x 720) daily, while 24 GB would allow streaming 30 minutes of HD video with an additional six minutes of VR each day.

prof Skala elected to the member of Hungarian Academy of Sciences

 

The MIPRO  General Program Chair  and the Rudjer Boskovic Institute Advisor, Karolj Skala, was elected on the 191. Election Assembly of the Hungarian Academy of Sciences by a regular member from abroad in the Class  of Technical Sciences.

 The Hungarian Academy of Science has 11 Classes  and among its 13 Nobel Prize winners. In the Technical Sciences Class there are 14 regular members from abroad, 6 from the USA and 8 from the EU.

 Prof Skala is a longtime associate of the Academy in the field of optoelectronics, laser communication and distributed systems.
