7th Higher Education Institution Conference will be held in Opatija, in September 23-24. The Electoral Assembly of MIPRO was held on July 2, 2019 at the Faculty of Electrical Engineering and Computing, where there were 103 members of the Association. According to the agenda, amendments to the Statute were accepted and voting for the leadership of the association was made for the next mandate until 2023.

Opening Ceremony of the 42nd International ICT Convention MIPRO 2019

On Wednesday, May 22, starting at 10 AM, a traditional opening ceremony will take place as the central event of the 42nd International ICT Convention MIPRO 2019 at the Congress Hall of the Grand Hotel Adriatic in Opatija.

After opening addresses followed by the Awards and Recognitions for outstanding achievement, a Plenary Round Table on the "Strategy for the Development of Artificial Intelligence and Smart Environments in Croatia" will begin (scheduled at 11:30 AM).

Dr. Zoltán Juhász will hold and chair a workshop on “GPU Programming and Applications” on Monday, 20 May 2019 in cooperation with the Ruđer Bošković Institute, Zagreb and the University of Rijeka. The workshop will focus on how to design and implement efficient, high-performance GPU algorithms, benefiting from the massive parallelism found in today’s GPU chips.

Participate if you are a student, researcher or IT professional wishing to keep up-to-date with the state-of-the-art in GPU computing.  Workshop participants will receive a BURA supercomputer account valid for 30 days. In addition, there is a possibility of extending the account on the basis of project proposal.

Dr. Rebecca Christianson from Olin College of Engineering, Needham, USA, will hold an invited lecture on "Transformation of Engineering Education at Olin College" at the conference Engineering Education /EE on Tuesday, May 21, within MIPRO 2019.

How to Teach Math in (Engineering) Context

Dr. Rebecca Christianson from Olin College of Engineering, Needham, USA, with 15 years of integrated project based learning experience will hold a practical workshop on „How to Teach Mathematics in the (Engineering) Context“ at the 42nd International ICT Convention MIPRO 2019.

In this workshop, participants will learn how to enhance student motivation towards mathematics by integrating fundamental mathematics learning into a hands-on, project-based engineering context.

Paolo Zenzerović from the Institute for Youth Development and Innovativity  (IRIM) will hold an invited  lecture entitled "How to Develop Critical and Computational Thinking Early?" within the 42nd International ICT Convention MIPRO 2019 and the conference on Engineering Education /EE.

Round Table on Intelligent Production is a continuation of already traditional initiative of the CTS Symposia Organizers to talk about actualities having a “Production” as a key-word. This thematic field is addressed by inviting experts to present their projects and achievements in a form of Invited Keynotes. Invited Keynotes are also used to introduce topics and motivate the work of the Round Table which takes part of the timetable of the CTS Symposia, but it is also open for a broader audience. With this we invite all to join us on Thursday May 23rd at 10.30 in “Galija” hall of Remisens Hotel Admiral in Opatija.
 

MIPRO 2019 - workshop by Veljko Milutinović

This workshop sheds light on the essence of the dataflow paradigm and teaches the related programming model, so after attending it, the participants would be able to generate production level code for their applications that need acceleration and/or lower power consumption, using the current Maxeler DataFlow Engines, as well as the future Intel's ones. For general purpose code, this paradigm provides acceleration that could reach 20x or even 200x, while the power consumption gets 20x smaller; at the same time, physical size of the equipment gets considerably smaller, and conditions get generated for computing of a considerably higher precision.
 

President of the Republic of Croatia Kolinda Grabar-Kitarović has accepted the high patronage of the 42nd International ICT Convention MIPRO 2019 which will take place from 20 to 24 May this year in Opatija.

Blaženka Divjak, Croatian Minister of Science and Education, will hold a plenary keynote lecture on "Strategic Planning in Higher Education and Science" on Thursday, 23 May, as part of the presentation of project results of the Croatian Science Foundation “HigherDecision”.

Dr. Zoltán Juhász will hold and chair a workshop on “GPU Programming and Applications” on Monday, 20 May 2019 within MIPRO 2019 in cooperation with the Ruđer Bošković Institute, Zagreb and the University of Rijeka. A new workshop at MIPRO 2019

Institute for Youth Development and Innovativity organizes a workshop “Micro:bit as a Tool for Digital Literacy and Computational Thinking” in cooperation with MIPRO at this year's MIPRO. It will take place on Wednesday afternoon (22 May) and is intended for parents, engineers and all others who would like to share their interest or encourage others’ interest in STEM fields.

The final Interreg CE conference of the project URBAN INNO - Utilizing Innovation Potential of Urban Ecosystems will be held from 23 to 24 May within the 42nd International ICT Convention MIPRO 2019.

Dr. Maksym Myronov will give an invited talk entitled “Overcoming Limitations of Silicon Carbide Heteroepitaxy on Silicon Wafers” within the Microelectronics, Electronics and Electronic Technology Conference at MIPRO 2019. 

Professor Myronov will give invited talk on the novel low-temperature epitaxy technology, leading to the invention of state of the art wafer scale heteroepitaxy of  3C-SiC on standard silicon substrates.
