In memoriam - Dr. Sc. Stjepan Golubić (1951–2026)
In memoriam
Dr. sc. Stjepan Golubić (1951–2026)
This year, almost at the same time as the 49th MIPRO Conference was taking place, we suddenly lost our dear colleague Dr. Sc. Stjepan Golubić, long-standing Chair of the Telecommunications and Information Conference.
He had held this position since 2004, dedicating himself to the development of the symposium and to keeping its topics aligned with current developments and the needs of the profession. He was an active member of the MIPRO leadership team, always conscientious, responsible, and ready to help. His quiet dedication, collegiality, and warm smile will be greatly missed by everyone who had the privilege of working with him.
Stjepan Golubić had been a member of the MIPRO Presidency since 2003, a member of the Organizing Committee from 1993 to 2003, and a member of the Program Committee since 1993. He contributed numerous scientific and professional papers to MIPRO conferences in the fields of microelectronics, telecommunications, quality, and process development.
He was born in Zagreb on January 13, 1951. He graduated in 1974, received his master’s degree in 1981, and his PhD in 1987 from the Faculty of Electrical Engineering, University of Zagreb.
His professional career began in 1976 with the testing of electronic components used in the production of switching systems. In 1985, he assumed a managerial position in the Integrated Components Department. Following Ericsson’s entry into the ownership structure of the company, Stjepan joined the then Design Center, today’s R&D Center, in 1995, where he focused on the development of software solutions for telecommunications systems, with particular emphasis on product quality assurance.
From 2009 onward, he worked at the company level, focusing on operational excellence, development, and quality. Through his work in quality assurance, process development, and operational excellence, he made a significant contribution to building and developing a new generation of experts. He also published numerous scientific and professional papers in these fields. He retired in 2014.
We will remember him as a knowledgeable, responsible, and dedicated colleague, but above all as an open, warm, and kind-hearted person.
May he rest in peace!
