Željka Car - invited lecturer at the EE conference

As digital technologies continue to shape modern society, ensuring their accessibility and inclusivity becomes an essential responsibility for future engineers. Željka Car, Full Professor at the Faculty of Electrical Engineering and Computing, University of Zagreb, will deliver an invited lecture at the upcoming EE conference.

The lecture will highlight key concepts such as universal design and assistive technologies, alongside a teaching approach based on project-based learning and the use of emerging technologies. Particular emphasis is placed on multidisciplinary collaboration, bringing together engineering students and faculty with experts from social sciences, as well as involving end users directly in the development process.

Through practical examples, the lecture will showcase student-developed solutions from computer science and electrical engineering, applied in areas such as speech and language therapy, educational rehabilitation, and public awareness. These projects demonstrate how engineering education can go beyond technical knowledge, fostering socially responsible innovation and real-world impact. By combining technical skills with an understanding of accessibility, this approach contributes to shaping future engineers who are not only competent but also aware of the broader societal implications of their work.
