Basic information:
Chairs:

Tihana Galinac Grbac (Croatia), Darko Huljenić (Croatia)

Program Committee:

Stipo Čelar (Croatia), Andrej Grgurić (Croatia), Igor Ljubi (Croatia), Mladen Sokele (Croatia), Željka Tomasović (Croatia), Mladen Tomić (Croatia), Linda Vicković (Croatia)

Scope:

The rapid evolution of Artificial Intelligence (AI), Large Language Models (LLMs), autonomous software, and intelligent digital infrastructures is fundamentally transforming Software and Systems Engineering. Future software systems are no longer purely technical artefacts but complex socio-technical ecosystems where humans, AI agents, organizations, and digital infrastructures continuously interact, collaborate, learn, and co-evolve. Engineering such systems requires new methods that integrate software engineering, systems engineering, software architecture, human-centered design, runtime knowledge management, and decision intelligence. These systems must remain trustworthy, adaptive, explainable, maintainable, secure, sustainable, and sovereign throughout their lifecycle while continuously evolving in response to changing environments, stakeholders, and technologies.

The Software and Systems Engineering (SSE) Conference provides a forum for researchers and practitioners to discuss methods, technologies, architectures, engineering practices, and industrial experiences for designing, developing, operating, and evolving next-generation intelligent software and systems. The conference particularly welcomes contributions addressing the engineering of AI-native, socio-technical, and knowledge-driven systems, emphasizing human-AI collaboration, trustworthy and sovereign AI, adaptive software architectures, runtime intelligence, and sustainable lifecycle engineering.

Topics:
  • AI-Native Software and Systems Engineering
  • Generative AI, Foundation Models and LLMs for Software Engineering
  • Human-AI Collaboration, Human-in-the-Loop and Mixed-Initiative Systems
  • Engineering of Socio-Technical Systems
  • Software and Systems Architecture for AI-Native, Adaptive and Sovereign Systems
  • Agentic AI and Multi-Agent Software Systems
  • Runtime Knowledge Construction, Knowledge Management and Knowledge Evolution
  • Decision-Centric Software Engineering and Multi-loop Decision Coordination
  • Software Requirements Engineering for Intelligent Systems
  • Self-Adaptive, Autonomous and Software-Defined Systems
  • Engineering Concepts, Design Principles and Intelligent System Composition
  • Continuous Software Evolution, Modernization and DevOps

Researchers are encouraged to submit either work-in-progress papers (approximately 2,000 words) or full papers (approximately 5,000 words) presenting original research, industrial experience, emerging ideas, or innovative engineering solutions. The conference offers a forum for exchanging research results, industrial practices, and future research directions in Software and Systems Engineering, fostering collaboration between academia and industry.

Location:

Opatija is the leading seaside resort of the Eastern Adriatic and one of the most famous tourist destinations on the Mediterranean. With its aristocratic architecture and style, Opatija has been attracting artists, kings, politicians, scientists, sportsmen, as well as business people, bankers and managers for more than 180 years.

The tourist offer in Opatija includes a vast number of hotels, excellent restaurants, entertainment venues, art festivals, superb modern and classical music concerts, beaches and swimming pools – this city satisfies all wishes and demands.

Opatija, the Queen of the Adriatic, is also one of the most prominent congress cities in the Mediterranean, particularly important for its ICT conventions, one of which is MIPRO, which has been held in Opatija since 1979, and attracts more than a thousand participants from over forty countries. These conventions promote Opatija as one of the most desirable technological, business, educational and scientific centers in South-eastern Europe and the European Union in general.
