The MIPRO Annual ICT Award, "Tesla's Beacon of Knowledge", honored individuals whose pioneering achievements had made outstanding contributions to the advancement of Information and Communication Technologies (ICT), science, and innovation. Inspired by the legacy of Nikola Tesla, the award recognized visionary leadership, scientific excellence, and technological breakthroughs that shape the future of society.
The 2026 MIPRO Annual ICT Award "Tesla's Beacon of Knowledge", aspiring to become the "Oscar of ICT", was presented to Professor John M. Martinis in recognition of his pioneering contributions to quantum computing. His groundbreaking work on superconducting qubits and quantum error correction laid the foundation for scalable quantum computers and profoundly influenced the future of information technologies. As a Nobel Prize laureate in Physics, Professor Martinis exemplified scientific excellence and innovation, making him a most deserving recipient of Tesla's Beacon of Knowledge. The award was presented by Academician Karolj Skala, Chair of the MIPRO Annual ICT Award Committee, during a special ceremony held at the Ruđer Bošković Institute.
