The 47th MIPRO Convention Uses Multilingual Translation with AI Technology in All EU Languages

This year's 47th MIPRO convention, at its opening ceremony achieves significant progress in overcoming language barriers through the adoption of advanced multilingual translation technology. To reduce the dominance of the English language in international forums, this initiative strives to increase linguistic diversity and comply with the European Union’s regulations on language equality in all circumstances.

The use of this technology ensures that all participants, regardless of their native language, have equal access to the opening ceremony of this traditional convention. This not only enhances the experience and engagement of all participants but also sets a new standard for inclusivity at global technological events.

Utilizing the latest AI technology, the MIPRO convention leads by example, demonstrating how technology can be used to bridge language gaps and create a more inclusive environment. This initiative is a step forward in respecting and promoting linguistic diversity, aligning with the EU's vision of language equality in all spheres.

MIPRO 2024 keynote lecture - Oliver Oberst

MIPRO is proud to announce this year's keynote lecture dedicated to quantum computing.

Quantum Computing: Making a quantum leap into the future

Oliver Oberst
IBM Deutschland, Germany

His lecture will cover the following areas:

  • a brief non-technical introduction to quantum computing and why it is different to classical computing,
  • a discussion of areas where we feel that quantum computing will provide an advantage over classical computing with some examples of use cases,
  • why we think that useful quantum computing is nearer than you think – with illustrations from the IBM roadmap and IBM advances over the past 12 months.

Hrvoje Hadzic - invited lecturer at the CTI conference

Hrvoje Hadzic, Innovation & Business Development Manager at Ericsson Nikola Tesla, Zagreb, Croatia, will give an invited talk on “New Telecom Momentum” within the CTI conference at this year's MIPRO convention.

For a long time, telecom industry was trying to replicate the Internet industry success. Today several factors have changed indicating that the telecom industry might be facing a „perfect storm“ to turn the revenue projections in its favor. New revenue streams started to form, but they will be successful only if basic telecom concepts are in place, like high performance of the networks and strengthening of eco-system with already established players on the market. Lecture covers „Network API“ and how the telecom network architecture is adapting to changing business environment, as well as set of services supported over Network API. In second part of the lecture, special focus will be put on solutions based on augmented reality how the network performance is changing to adapt to those solutions.

Prof. Csaba Szabó - invited lecturer at the SSE conference

Csaba Szabó, a full professor at the Faculty of Electrical Engineering and Informatics, Technical University of Košice, Slovakia, will give an invited talk on “Evolution of a Software System Architecture - Explained in a Model Situation” within the SSE conference at this year’s MIPRO convention.

The most important decision in the early stage of software development is the design of system architecture. In this talk, they set up a model situation and present such decision. Then, evolution of the software is simulated. Since in parallel to the evolution of the system and its environment there is also a kind of evolution in the understanding of the underlying domain and problems by the software team, it is obvious that the initial architectural design becomes also a subject of evolution. Kinds and ways of this evolution are the main focus point of this talk. In their model situation, they evolve the system architecture of a web application from a client-server architecture with full single technology stack to a microfrontends' architecture with distributed heterogenous technology stack.

A book on Dew Computing has been published

Springer has published a new book on Dew Computing as the entry level of the Dew-Fog-Cloud service hierarchy.

The Dew Computing name and principle were initiated by Dr Skala from Croatia and Prof Wang from Canada in 2015. From that pragmatic start of the new service layer up to the present day, 8 conferences have been held as part of the IEEE DewCom STC working group, which has over 160 members from all over the world and whose members have published at least one article related to the Dew Computing paradigm. It is significant that the first Dew Computing conference was held at MIPRO, organized by the Ruđer Bošković Institute.

In the preface of the book Dr Skala gives indications that, in addition to analog energy and digital Grid/services, a third global service system with Dew-Fog-Cloud services is being developed, which will be the basis of smart industry and a significant part of the new 5.0 industrial revolution.
